Once again Going to Pieces gave a challenge to OCCUMC with a community outreach project. Our hope was to raise more money this year and beat last years' amount. WELL...we did that and were happy to present $3500 to Captain Jason Bigelow and his team at Oak Creek's Salvation Army on Wednesday May 10, 2023 They were very excited and clearly in disbelief that we did this not only for them but for this community. This local food pantry supplies Oak Creek, Franklin, Cudahy and South Milwaukee. The food pantry is open Wednesday and Thursday from 9-12 and feeds about 40-50 people a week.
There are very few food drives in the summer months and our donation will fund many of the summer months so they were happy to inform us that the Hunger Task Force will MATCH our donation!!!
We left feeling happy, fulfilled, proud and blessed that our church stepped up and generously gave to support this great need. We have given $6,500 to the Food Pantry over the last 3 years. You are truly servants of God. Thank You everyone!
A huge thank you to all who scoured their bookshelves and closets for gently used books, and even purchased new ones.
We collected over 350 books for the 21st Century Preparatory School in Racine! Principal Stacey James (2nd from right) and teachers give out books as rewards to their students in grades K through 8.
We celebrate the support of this program, and lift in prayer the school’s teachers, staff, and the recipients of these books.
