Oak Creek Community United Methodist Church is a loving and caring place
Here at OCCUMC, part of our mission statement includes to love and serve all people. The Stephen Ministry team has been doing this nd has been available for congregants and our community since June of 2011. We do this because we share a passion for bringing Christ’s love and care to people during a time of need. There are currently eight trained Stephen Ministers, two men and six women here at our church.
In the Stephen Ministry logo above, you see a circle with a broken person on the left, the cross of Jesus in the middle and a whole person on the right. It tells the story of a care receiver’s journey from brokenness to wholeness through the transforming power of the cross of Jesus. The meaning of the logo symbols is as follows:
Circle – Symbol of God’s eternal and never-ending love for us.
Cross of Jesus – Reminds us that Christ is at the center of Stephen Ministry & relationships.
Broken person – Behind the cross, how we are all broken people by our sin and imperfections.
Whole person - Front of the cross, wholeness we encounter with transforming power of Jesus.
Who are the Stephen Ministers? We are the hands and feet of Jesus, everyday laypeople who have been trained to provide one-to-one care to people experiencing a difficult time in life. Examples include experiencing grief, unemployment, hospitalization, loneliness, divorce, financial stress, a terminal illness, or other life difficulties. I encourage anyone who would like to have a Stephen Minister walk with you during a difficult time in your life, man to man, women to women, in a confidential setting, please contact Ken Miller at 414-241-3895 or Pastor Wendee.
Blessings to all,
Stephen Leader / Minister
